The Shalem Center, a Jerusalem-based research and educational institute, is applying to establish Israel’s first liberal arts college. The Center is engaged in a development campaign, focused in North America, to raise the funds to open the College in the Fall of 2012. The Center has opened an office in New York City, managed by the Vice President for Development who is responsible for all North American fundraising.
The Senior Executive Assistant reporting to the Vice President for Development is a full-time position in NYC. He/she will interface and coordinate with an Israeli-based development team.
The Senior Executive Assistant is responsible for coordinating all of the activities of a busy, two-person fundraising office. Responsibilities include:
Management of the mega-donor pipeline, including the identification and screening of potential $1M+ donors, creation of agendas for weekly fundraising meetings, updating of pipeline.
Maintenance of the Master Development Calendar and Trip Planning, including setting up all development-related trips, scheduling donor meetings, handling logistics, preparing materials; maintaining a master trip calendar for all scholars traveling from Israel; handling trip planning for the vice president.
Special Events planning, including organizing parlor meetings, dinners, receptions, etc; handling logistics for two Board of Directors meetings in NYC.
Financial Reporting and Analysis, including maintaining income and fundraising charts, updating fundraising goals and metrics.
Technology, including trouble shooting all aspects of computer operation; preparing power point presentations and spread sheets.
General Office work, including maintaining files, setting up meetings and conference calls, preparing vendor payment and travel reimbursement requests, ordering supplies.
Qualifications:
· College degree;
· 3 years work experience
· Prior experience in fundraising office; experience in communicating with board members and high level donors;
· Strong verbal and written communication skills;
· Experience in computer management, including knowledge of Microsoft office suite, skype, adobe etc.
· Highly motivated self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of the Jewish community in North America;
· Knowledge of Hebrew helpful but not essential;
· Able to relate positively with donors, potential donors, board members and colleagues in Israel
