Development Manager

The Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) is seeking an experienced Development Manager to work with the Chief Executive of the CCAR, the Director of Operations/Controller, and other staff and volunteers to help implement strategic fundraising and other development objectives of the Conference. Specific areas of responsibility:

  • Implementation and management of fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment and capital campaigns, Convention sponsorships, publication dedication gifts, special projects, events, and planned giving;
  • Donor and gift recordkeeping and correspondence;
  • Planning for leadership cultivation and solicitation of current and prospective contributors;
  • Organization of activities for prospect and donor relations;
  • Preparation of grant proposals for foundations and sponsorship proposals for corporations;
  • Coordinating with annual Convention staff for convention related fundraising and assisting at Convention.
  • Development research activities;
  • Coordinating development activities of the Chief Executive and other staff;
  • Work with Revenue Committee, and its Chair, and other volunteers;
  • Other duties as assigned;

Qualifications:

· Quick learner with the ability to learn new programs and processes;

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook and Excel, and donor data base programs (knowledge of Saleforce.com a plus);
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities;
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, donor and member relationship, and communication skills;
  • Project and event management skills;
  • Willingness to be flexible;
  • Willingness to take active part in the office team;
  • Patience/good judgment with people;
  • At least two years of experience in non-profit development work;
  • An earned Bachelor’s degree; an earned graduate degree a plus but not required.
