JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire an Accountant to work within the Division of Real Estate Services (DRES)’ Financial Information Unit.  The candidate will be responsible for administering the DCAS mortgage portfolio consisting of approximately one hundred accounts.  This will include working with mortgagors, the NYC Law Department, the NYC Department of Finance and DCAS staff.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Monitor delinquent mortgage accounts in conjunction with the NYC Law Department

• Maintain a daily general ledger of account activity and is responsible for ledger activity and reconciliation

• Prepare mortgage satisfactions in accordance with the NYC Law Department

• Prepare adhoc mortgage reports from existing data tables utilizing Microsoft Office Applications

 • Correspond with mortgagors, title companies, attorneys and the NYC Law Department on issues pertaining to the mortgage portfolio

 • Reconcile the cash report, payment activity and monthly billing 

• Process debt reductions and other adjustments to the Mortgage Accounting System (MAS)

 •Represent DCAS at mortgage closings and review mortgage documents after the closing in coordination with the NYC Law Department

 Prepare mortgage revenue projections and will also assume impromptu projects and/or assignments

This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated self starter with a strong financial aptitude seeking mortgage experience and exposure to the City’s real estate portfolio.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or

2. A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license.

New York City residency required within 90 days of appointment.

Qualifications:

  • CPA with 5+ years of audit experience at a Big 4 accounting firm required.
  • 5+ years of experience in an accounting leadership role at a publicly held company.
  • Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and international experience.

Position Description:

*Development Operations: -Enter and maintain contact information and gift amounts in
Raisers Edge.
-Facilitate donor communication via timely acknowledgement letters and
other mailings, mass e-mails to donor base, and meeting coordination.
* Events/Board Meetings: -Handle administrative tasks associated with all AFN events, including dinner/journal, AFN Board Meetings, lectures, conferences, and others.

*U.S. Liason with Nishmat: -First response desk for administrative requests from Nishmat in Israel.

*Travel arrangements: -Coordinate travel arrangements for Nishmat staff.

*General Support: -Proactively maintain AFN supply room; order supplies from vendors
