Mission:
Elie Wiesel and his wife, Marion, established The Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity soon after he was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize for Peace. The Foundation’s mission, rooted in the memory of the Holocaust, is to combat indifference, intolerance and injustice through international dialogue and youth-focused programs that promote acceptance, understanding and equality.

To this end, the Foundation runs multiple programs both domestically and internationally. In the U.S., the Foundation organizes the Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest and a Humanitarian Award. Outside the U.S., the Foundation organizes a regular calendar of international conferences for youth in conflict-ridden countries and Nobel Laureates. Finally, the Foundation also runs Beit Tzipora Centers in Israel that give Ethiopian Jewish children the opportunity to overcome early educational inequality and participate fully in Israeli society.

3. Traveling with Prof. Wiesel around the world to assist in expanding our vital network of supporters
4. Executing on our annual fund-raising gala event
5. Seeing the Foundation through a period of rebuilding: personally overseeing development, event planning and programming until executive staff can be expanded
