In August, 100 out-of-work professionals will be hired as sellers. Each salesperson will collect a 30 percent commission on artworks her or she sells. A selection of the work and more information can be found at nyartsale.com

A 50,000 sq. ft space located at 679 3rd avenue on the south-east corner of 43rd street has been secured for the month of September 2009, to display the artwork.

We are looking for a wide economic spectrum of Sellers: social workers, writers, marketing professionals, film-industry workers, food-service workers, real-estate agents, Religious leaders, business owners, financial advisors, medical professionals, artists, and 501(c)3 organizations among others …

If you are out of work due to the recession, or your non-profit organization has lost money, you may qualify to be a seller.

Over the course of the month, more than 600 works of art will be available for purchase. Sellers will be assigned artwork to sell. The in-store and online gallery will display the artworks alongside a photograph, profile and the contact information of the seller. Buyers contact the seller directly to purchase the work.

Sellers do not have to be onsite to sell.

The objective is to create income for the diverse demographic of unemployed. This experiment is set up to comment on the current shifts in the market economy. And in the end to really see what’s happening.

SUMMARY

Provide full technical support to end users of PC, telephones, projectors, smartboards, server, hardware, and software applications. Interact with network and systems engineering to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems. Perform various system administrative tasks on Windows XP and Mac systems. Professional systems including: Ghosting computers, daily health checks, routine disk cleanup, applying OS and utility patches, changing and mapping volumes and directories, installing and updating virus protection software and update files, managing the printing environments, managing user accounts, groups, passwords, monitoring of systems.  Maintain current and high-level technical skills in fields of expertise.  Must be flexible; you may be doing high-end server work one day, and moving PCs or helping with an iphone the next.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Answer and respond to Help Desk calls and Emails with a smile

· Solve end-user hardware, Network, OS and software problems in the most efficient manner

· Provide “at the desk” user support and conduct user training

· Perform daily status checks of servers, data center equipment

· Keep systems current with OS and application patches

· Perform day-to-day systems administration tasks

· Administer Users and Computers in Active Directory environment

· Build and configure PCs for new employees

· Simulate or recreate user problems in a test environment to resolve operating problems.

· Research and recommend systems modifications to reduce end-user troubles.

· Move, Add, Change user workstations and telephones

· Inventory control of IT PCs, laptops, servers, and miscellaneous parts and peripherals

· Proactive with suggesting/implementing systems to make the end user’s life easier

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Microsoft Technical Training in Windows 2000 Administration
  • MCSE preferred
  • At least 2 years experience administering Windows (XP Pro, possibly Vista)
  • At least 2 years experience installing and troubleshooting Microsoft Office and client-server applications
  • At least one year experience administering Users and Computers with Active Directory
  • At least one year experience administering Exchange 2000 or 2003

· Strong problem solving and decision making skills.

· Excellent technical proficiency including the ability to quickly troubleshoot problems over the phone.

· Strong verbal and written communications abilities

· Consistent ability to deal effectively and considerately with all levels of users

· Applicants with experience with Symantec Ghost, PCAnywhere,

· Ability to prioritize support issues and multi-task

· MCSE or equivalent work experience

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Must be experienced in troubleshooting PC hardware, software and networking problems and firewall issues.

· Experience in installing and configuring hardware and software (e.g., network cards, SCSI devices, memory, video drivers and hard drives) required.

· All aspects of Windows XP (and Vista) systems administration

· Efficient use of automated processes such as unattended installs, scripting and drive imaging.

· Programming experience is highly desirable.

· Able to document work in a help desk system, and via reports and e-mails.

· Experience working with vendors via phone web-based, and Email technical support to solve hardware and software problems.

· Able to follow and develop documented procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Individual must be available to be on-call during school hours (8:30-5) and occasionally off hours/sunday for special programs

· Individual must be patient and have very good people skills

· Individual must be very organized.

· Individual must be able to learn existing and new systems and software as needed to keep current with state-of-the-art

· Individual must be able to lift equipment up to 75 pounds, mount in a rack and walk up lots of stairs

Position Summary:

This position is the executive assistant to the Department Representative of the education department. It encompasses both strategic and administrative work. The ideal candidate is someone who is energetic and outgoing, who can deal with both senior level personnel as well as non managerial staff.

The position reports directly to the Department Representative.

Position is located in NYC

Responsibilities:

• Coordination of special projects on behalf of the Department Representative

• Coordination of various team meetings and follow-up on decisions: including meeting convening, protocol, implementation charts and additional administrative support)

• Current events and literature scan regarding pertinent developments affecting the work of the Department in North America and communication in digest form to the relevant entities in North America and in Israel.

• Day to day management of the New York office: ordering supplies, building and security clearance for guests, organization of intra-office staff meeting.

• Support for Jerusalem based Department employees when visiting North America

• Direct report to the Department Representative in North America

Skills and work abilities:
