Job Description: Website Administrator



The Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) is seeking a Website Administrator to be responsible for the administration, planning and implementation of the CCAR website. Please send a detailed resume along with salary requirements to hr@ccarnet.org.

Areas of responsibility, including but not limited to:

  • Administration of website content, which includes updating content on each page.
  • Management of website issues.
  • Maintain server which is hosted by Webfraction.
  • Upload data from Salesforce Database onto the website’s member directory.
  • Help administer usernames and passwords.
  • Configure, install, tune, troubleshoot, apply patches and support web server, provide company or client services, and integrate third party applications.
  • Provide enhancements and support for website.
  • Support the work of all departments and the other senior staff (Program, Placement, Press, Administration and Fundraising).

Preferred Qualifications (looking for an individual who meets most if not all of these):

  • Working knowledge of Django.
  • Knowledge of Internet Information Server, Active Directory, Server 2003, Windows Load Balancing, DNS and Microsoft Clustering.
  • Software development knowledge with an emphasis on Microsoft .NET Technologies (ASP.net, VB.net or C+, HTML, Visual Studio, VBScript, JavaScript, XML, IIS, PERL and SQL Server).
  • Strong scripting experience (PERL, shell, TCL, or python).
  • Thorough understanding of Collaboration Tools, Enterprise Portals, Enterprise Search, and Forms-based Business Process Document & Content Management.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Ability to manage/control polices and permission groups.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Overall ownership of delivered quality of projects.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning emerging technologies.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a Computer field; Computer Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems.

The Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) is seeking an experienced Development Manager to work with the Chief Executive of the CCAR, the Director of Operations/Controller, and other staff and volunteers to help implement strategic fundraising and other development objectives of the Conference. Specific areas of responsibility:

  • Implementation and management of fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment and capital campaigns, Convention sponsorships, publication dedication gifts, special projects, events, and planned giving;
  • Donor and gift recordkeeping and correspondence;
  • Planning for leadership cultivation and solicitation of current and prospective contributors;
  • Organization of activities for prospect and donor relations;
  • Preparation of grant proposals for foundations and sponsorship proposals for corporations;
  • Coordinating with annual Convention staff for convention related fundraising and assisting at Convention.
  • Development research activities;
  • Coordinating development activities of the Chief Executive and other staff;
  • Work with Revenue Committee, and its Chair, and other volunteers;
  • Other duties as assigned;

Qualifications:

· Quick learner with the ability to learn new programs and processes;

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook and Excel, and donor data base programs (knowledge of Saleforce.com a plus);
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities;
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, donor and member relationship, and communication skills;
  • Project and event management skills;
  • Willingness to be flexible;
  • Willingness to take active part in the office team;
  • Patience/good judgment with people;
  • At least two years of experience in non-profit development work;
  • An earned Bachelor’s degree; an earned graduate degree a plus but not required.

The Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to the Director of Rabbinic Placement. The Assistant will report directly to the Director of Rabbinic Placement and the Director of Operations/Controller, as well as support the work of the other senior staff and the CCAR in general. Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Receive and respond to phone calls from rabbis seeking new positions, and from synagogue presidents and other leaders involved in searches for rabbis;
  • Manage job listings on the Placement webpage of the CCAR website;
  • Manage flow of rabbinic resumes to congregations and other positions as directed by the Director of Rabbinic Placement;
  • Coordinate with seminary over placement of students about to be ordained;
  • Implement policies and rules of placement at the direction of the Director of Rabbinic Placement;
  • Track and process membership applications of rabbis to the CCAR;
  • Organize the semiannual meeting of the Rabbinical Placement Commission and take notes;
  • Access and update Salesforce database;
  • Coordinate documents, tasks and master lists organized within Basecamp;
  • Answer phones, triage calls, take and relay messages;
  • Assist in planning the travel schedule of the Director of Rabbinic Placement, including making airline reservations, preparing expense reports, organizing itinerary;
  • Set up phone call appointments and in-person meetings for the Director of Rabbinic Placement and manage electronically;
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and other staff gatherings;

We are seeking an Assistant to the Publisher and Director of Press to be responsible for customer service calls and processing orders for books as well as assisting the Publisher and Director of Press.

General areas of responsibility, including but not limited to:

  • Handle press customer service calls and take orders via phone
  • Process orders via online and fax
  • Set up phone calls and in-person meetings for various publication teams
  • Serve as liaison to Press Council, Worship and Practice, Commissions on Worships — getting out key correspondence
  • Access and update Salesforce database
  • Coordinate tasks and keep master list organized within Basecamp
  • Answer phones, triage calls, take and relay messages
  • Traffic manuscripts and projects

Capabilities/Skills:

  • Great phone skills and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft word, excel, outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Quick learner with the ability to learn new programs
  • Patience / good judgment with people
  • Good conflict resolution instincts
  • Project management skills
  • Familiarity with Web content management is not required but is a plus
