The student life coordinator will be in charge of informal education - class trips, weekend events, coordinate holiday celebrations, after school activities, etc. These activities will supplement the academic program and will help create school spirit and enthusiastic student involvement with the Schechter Westchester community. This individual will be a team player, be creative and innovative with ideas and implementation of ideas, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and know how to network and work collaboratively.
• Plan, coordinate, implement all aspects of grade-level trips (TEVA, Washington, Israel, Lag B’Omer).
• Holiday Programming – coordinate integration of curriculum and holiday (both Jewish and secular) programming.
• Create out of class special programs that supplement the curriculum
• Create/lead middle school student government
• Oversee/create middle school student clubs (ie. Newspaper)
• Create social, educational, religious opportunities with feeder middle schools
• Plan middle school dance and other social opportunities
• Lead tefilah
• Participate in C’cha program
• Classroom teacher (Bar/Bat Mitzvah curriculum, Mishnah)
• Plan grade-level community service opportunities
• Create informal relationships with students
• Help students see the value of completing their Schechter education through high school
• Work together with high school colleagues to coordinate the schools informal education programming
• Participate in planning, coordinating and managing Israel trip for 8th grade class.
