POSITION PURPOSE

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide exemplary customer service to all aspects of the cabin
-Actively seek to ensure the safety and comfort of customers
-Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations
-Assist passengers and fellow crew members during emergency situations
-Provide special assistance to passengers, including stowing luggage in overhead compartments, emergency medical aid, and wheelchair assistance
-Prepare/serve meals and beverages; sell onboard liquor, duty-free items, and other items

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
-Position requires some physical exertion such as pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, standing, walking, and light lifting of passenger bags and catering needs

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
-Airport operations in all types of weather
-Long periods of standing and talking
-Airport ramp operations are noisy and can be hazardous without due caution
-Extensive travel; must be able to spend consecutive nights away from home
-Alternative work schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays

QUALIFICATIONS
-High school diploma or GED equivalent
-Must be at least 21 years of age
-Able to read and speak English and Hebrew fluently
-Direct customer service experience

Job Description

The Summer Shlichim Program sends each summer over 1000 Israeli counselors to work at over 200 summer camps across the United States and Canada. The program sends trained, experienced leaders to bring Israeli and Jewish culture to Jewish summer camps with the goal of strengthening personal connections between the Israel and the Jewish communities around the world.

This Coordinator position serves as the backbone for the Summer Shlichim Program in North America. It also serves as a major connection to of the larger North American Shlichim Delegation. The position requires the candidate to demonstrate strong customer service skills, solid communication skills and detailed administrative work.

The ideal candidate needs to be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment; multi-task, have excellent computer skills, coordinate and support an international office, be energetic, hard-working, experienced in working with colleagues at all levels of the administration and show cultural sensitivity to bi-cultural staff.

Main Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Summer Shlichim Program Liaison, Customer Service and logistics-

  • Serve as the local contact of the program with the camps and organizations as well as connection with the Israel office to ensure consistent and clear communication and coordination of service between our two offices.
  • Manage camp registration and billing
  • Oversee distribution of program logistics and information, newsletters and ongoing communication with camps and Shlichim.
  • Implement new initiatives for summer camps.
  • Serve as point of contact for emergencies throughout the summer.

North American Delegation Communication and logistics-

  • Coordinate all contact information for communities and Shlichim in North America
  • Serve as key member of planning and logistics for National Conferences and regional meetings

Skills & work abilities:

· High level of flexibility, exceptional client responsiveness and ability to function well in dynamic and high-pressure setting

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Engaging and teamwork oriented personality

· Exceptional organizational skills and follow up as well as proficiency in typing, word, outlook, excel, PowerPoint and ability to master a quick learning curve on internal databases

· Desire to learn

· Creativity, initiative, upbeat positive nature desired

· Experience working with/at summer camps is a plus

Computer skills:

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to utilize the internet to the maximum benefit, proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and the ability to learn new databases quickly

Languages:

The areas of responsibility of this position will include the following:

  • This individual works directly and continuously with global, regional, and district field managers and direct sellers and has secondary interaction with the Network Planning/Management Group, Marketing, and US and non-US Operations as well as with other Trade Lane Managers to consistently “drive” the plan.

 

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelors Degree is required although equivalent experience relevant to the job may be considered.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in Hebrew 
  • Generally ten years of experience in International Business Development or Supply Chain Operations Sales; including at least two years of management experience.
  • Strong International Sales skills are required.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a record of successful new client acquisition, negotiation (service offerings, pricing, assessorial charges, T&C), and customer support leading to high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to follow structured sales process is required.
  • Ability to set goals and hold people accountable for meeting goals is required.
  • Candidates must also have experience in leading a team and/or managing projects.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain is required - including experience in International Air and/or Ocean Freight.
  • Solid understanding of International Trade flows in assigned region.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be proficient in speaking and writing Hebrew
  • Must have air and/or ocean international freight experience
  • Must have international sales experience

OTHER CRITERIA:

The Hebrew Charter School Center (HCSC) was established in 2009 by the Areivim Philanthropic Group, an innovative consortium of North American philanthropists, to promote the development and sustainability of the Hebrew charter school movement. HCSC will accomplish its pioneering mission by supporting a network of excellent schools that serve diverse populations of students, foster strong interpersonal relationships, advance overall academic and social/emotional well-being, and promote high-levels of Hebrew language proficiency and understanding of world Jewish communities and Israel.

HSCS will be a key resource for planning groups interested in developing Hebrew language charter schools and a source of continuing support and expertise for those schools once they are established. These schools will become part of a support network. Hebrew Language Academy Charter School in Brooklyn, NY, opened in August 2009 as the first Vanguard school and the second network school, Hatikvah International Academy Charter School in East Brunswick, NJ, will open in September, 2010.

HCSC will proactively recruit planning groups and local team leaders to establish new schools; award planning and support grants to charter school founding groups and established Hebrew language charter schools; provide technical assistance in school creation and development; help identify and train school leaders, teachers and board members; coordinate customized professional development for educators; generate and publish curricular materials; provide direct training and consultation; engage in capacity-building activities that leverage the collective strength of the network; and ensure that schools receive legal expertise in constitutional issues and individual state education law.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Executive Director will provide the vision and strategic direction necessary to implement the HCSC mission. Reporting to and working collaboratively with a committed Board of Directors and foundation leadership, the Executive Director will position HCSC at the forefront of the Hebrew language charter school movement. He/she is expected to be one of the Hebrew language charter school movement’s primary thought-leaders, spokespersons and advocates. This is a hands-on position focusing on leadership, relationship-building, public relations, programming, fundraising, marketing, operations and board relations. Initially, in addition to support staff shared with a sponsoring foundation, the Executive Director will supervise a team of consultants working on school development, curriculum, community and public relations, grants management, and other major initiatives. It is anticipated that the team will grow to include full-time management and support staff.

IDEAL Qualifications: Advanced degree in business, education, not-for-profit management or related field; credibility in the charter school movement and/or significant educational leadership experience; genuine interest in/passion for school reform as well as for the specific mission of HCSC; Hebrew language proficiency and/or a passion for the Hebrew language; exceptional communication skills—able to articulate complex concepts to a broad range of audiences; proven strategic planning ability; experience working effectively with a board of directors; able to assemble and motivate a team toward a common goal; intellectually curious; impeccable integrity; experienced in fundraising; able to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced, evolving setting; capable of managing multiple priorities; knowledgeable about best practices in public education and/or business; energetic, spirited and entrepreneurial; politically savvy; able to inspire confidence; a service mentality; committed to fostering a team environment; familiar with the national philanthropic community; willing and able to travel throughout North America, as required.
