The Learning Center at the Pelham Jewish Center is looking for vibrant and enthusiastic teachers for the third and sixth grade classes, to start immediately. The Pelham Jewish Center is a conservative and egalitarian Jewish congregation, and we believe that Jewish Education takes place everywhere. We are looking for true Jewish role models, passionate about working with children in an informal setting. Knowledge of informal and experiential education and/or Jewish Camping is a plus. Areas of study include: Prayer, Jewish Holidays, Jewish History, Hebrew and Torah. Our school works on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4-6pm. The Pelham Jewish Center is located in Pelham Manor, 20 minutes North of NYC.

Seeking assistant to the president of a small non-profit foundation promoting higher education for gifted Israelis from disadvantaged backgrounds.  NOTE: This job is located in the president’s home.

Successful candidate will be a college graduate (master’s preferred) with 2 years of experience in nonprofit/fundraising who is highly organized and a stickler for detail.  Previous experience as a personal/executive assistant is highly desirable. A polished writing style, a flair for research and followup, and standard MSOffice skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) are also required. You must be a self-starter who enjoys working independently and thrives on multi-tasking under pressure.   Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) drafting letters to donors and VIPs, prioritizing president’s voluminous email and phone calls, tracking her schedule, assisting with event planning and president’s personal fundraising (including research), and filing.

Knowledge of Israel and/or Hebrew will be a plus.

President’s home office is located on the Upper East Side.

Flexible hours – 30 per week - may include some weekend hours prior to  major fundraising events.

Position opens September 1 and will be filled as soon as qualified candidate is identified.

Ameinu, The national progressive Zionist organization, is looking for a social media marketing intern, to begin ASAP. The organization provides a variety of programs and advocacy activities to a changing American Jewish community. Cutting across regions and ages, Ameinu presents a pro-peace pro-Israel voice evn as other voices grow more strident.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the executive staff this position will offer the intern a terrific opportunity to help develop marketing and branding efforts for Ameinu. While the position will include involvement oin all areas of outreach and marketing there will be concentration on messaging online in areas like Wikipedia and social media (Facebook, MySpace and YouTube). For a student pursuing a career in marketing and related fields this is an excellent chance to work with others in creating complete cutting edge marketing plans. The intern will also participate in meetings and events with other organizations, politicians and luminaries from Israel and America.

INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interface with Ameinu staff, boardmembers and volunteer activists to expand and implement a social media outreach and programming plan.
  • Ongoing management of effort, including hands-on involvement with Ameinu presence and input with Wikipedia, YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, websites and blogs.
  • Assist with the mechanics of standard marketing support duties.

Working at the intersection of grantmaking, community organizing and Jewish tradition.

About JFSJ:

The Jewish Funds for Justice (jewishjustice.org) is a national public foundation guided by Jewish history and tradition. JFSJ helps people in the United States achieve social and economic security and opportunity by investing in healthy neighborhoods, vibrant Jewish communities and skillful leaders. Our holistic approach to social change includes grantmaking and loans, service learning, leadership development, organizing, education, and advocacy.

Fellowship Description:

The Fellowship is a two-year, full-time position. JFSJ is offering two committed individuals the opportunity to participate fully as members of the grantmaking team overseeing our internal portfolios and managed projects. This is a working fellowship with a strong learning component. Responsibilities will include roughly one-third program coordination, one-third administrative work and one-third learning, reflecting, researching and writing. The Fellowship will train and develop emerging leaders exploring a career in economic justice and philanthropy who are enthusiastic about working at the intersection of Jewish values, community organizing, leadership and grantmaking. The fellowship start date is Monday, July 14, 2008, though some flexibility is available.

Qualifications:

· Interest in a career in grantmaking with a commitment to justice work.

· Interest in exploring social justice work with a Jewish and faith lens.

· Extraordinary writing and communication skills.

· An attention to detail and a capacity to manage multiple projects.

· Ability to function comfortably in a fast-paced work environment.

· Common sense, ability to work well with others and a sense of humor.

Leadership Development Content of Fellowship (subject to change):

The Fellowship has a structured learning component that will include intensive leadership development training, study of Jewish text and tradition and engagement with community organizers, grantmakers and Jewish thought leaders. Examples of this may include:

· Monthly learning and reflection with prominent thought leaders.

· Attendance at national conferences and training on grantmaking, social justice and Judaism

· Weekly check-in and reflection and full participation in staff training, strategy and planning work.

· Field engagement with community organizers, grantmakers and Jewish thought leaders.

Compensation:

The salary is $38k for each of the first and second years with the opportunity for a cost of living increase for the second year; potential third year available upon mutual agreement of Fellow and JFSJ. Full benefits package includes vacation and healthcare benefits, as per JFSJ policy.

We have an immediate opening for and Assistant Program Coordinator. We are an Orton-Gillingham Jewish Bais Yaakov Girls School and a Community After School Reading Center in Brooklyn for children with Dyslexia. We are looking for somone who will coordinate the daily activities at the school. This person must be able to multi-task. You must be good at organization. We need someone who can set up systems and follow them through. The right canditiate will have writing skills and be computer literate. You will also be a people person and be able problem solve. Parent and staff liason part of the job. This person could come from the business side or could be a teacher ready to get out of the classroom and into coordination and planning, or a retiree looking to give back to the community. Some admininstaion experience and a college degree preferred. Any training in working with Dyslexia Education is a plus. Must like to be part of a think tank.
