A non for profit Jewish organization in Manhattan, seeks full-time secretary to be an assistant to the CEO.

Qualities: Warmth, good judgment, discretion; familiarity with Jewish customs and practice, customer service oriented, attention to detail, punctual, reliable, independent and motivated, proactive with strong work ethic, travel and event planning experience, displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Duties: Administratively support the organization’s CEO, act as receptionist within the office, answer busy multi-line telephone, update and maintain an extensive database, create weekly bulletins, flyers and invitations.

Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications including Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook. Working knowledge of graphics software is a  plus.

Knowledge of other languages (Hebrew, Spanish, French) is a strong plus.

Hours: Mon. - Thurs. 9a-5p; Fri. 9a-4p

We are seeking a full time Office Administrator for our synagogue in lower Westchester about 30 minutes by train from NYC.

Duties will be to assist and support the Rabbi and Education Director, this includes overall office organization; coordinating mailings; maintaining supplies; answering phones; typing and editing, maintaining schedules /calendars and as a general receptionist in the synagogue office. Exciting opportunities exist for the right candidate to work on the newsletter, design/maintain our Facebook page and plan and organize a variety of events for the synagogue.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and on the phone. You must have your own car with valid drivers licence to help with Temple duties — post office, office supplies.

Efficiency, organization, strong computer skills and previous administrative experience are a must. Expertise in Microsoft Office is required and proficiency with Constant Contact (email marketing) Web management and facility with Facebook and other social media are a plus. Ramaz seeks an energetic, organized development professional with exceptional writing and communication skills to assist and support all aspects of the school’s fund-raising operation, taking primary roles in various ongoing and one-time projects as needed. 

   

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Closely staff the Director of Institutional Advancement and help him execute a variety of projects and tasks
  • Write and send out all of the Development Office’s correspondence, including pledge confirmation emails and acknowledgement and billing letters
  • Work closely with Communications Office to proofread e-communications and prepare mail merge lists for large mailings and other direct mail and e-appeals
  • Support Director of Institutional Advancement in the preparation for donor briefings (including writing talking points, preparing briefing papers and researching prospective donors)
  • Coordinate Journal and other parts of the Annual Dinner
  • Independently manage logistics for donor cultivation and development events
  • Ensure donor hard files are current, complete and chronological
  • Prepare and coordinate materials for meetings including meeting notices, agendas, handouts, copying and distributing follow-up materials
  • Provide some day-to-day administrative support to the Development staff
  • Assist with other large-scale development projects as needed

 

This position requires someone with excellent organizational skills, and who is self-directed and detail oriented. Excellent written and oral skills are a must. The person must be enthusiastic about working in a Jewish day school environment and enjoy working as part of a team.

 

Job Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an office setting.
  • Experience in an educational and/or Jewish institution is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power-point, Word and other computer skills, as required.

Title: Assistant Area Director

Travel: 35%

Summary: The Assistant Area Director (AAD) organizes, implements, and directs parlor meetings. In addition, the AAD is a critical part of the development staff responsible for the implementation of strategic engagement, acquisition of new gifts, support and retention of current AIPAC club members and planning club events and annual event in the San Diego community. Reports to the San Diego Area Director.

Qualifications/Skills:

 

The Assistant Area Director must possess the following skills:

  1. Strong community engagement and grass roots organizing skills.
  2. Must be able to develop relationships with members and lay leaders.
  3. Must be a strategic thinker, able to understand and act upon AIPAC’s operational, financial and political objectives.
  4. Knowledge of Israel and Middle East Politics.
  5. Effective written & verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to manage staff engaged in various developmental and administrative functions.
  7. Knowledge of the San Diego Jewish community.
  8. Public Speaking skills.
  9. Solicitation skills.
  10. Computer skills: Microsoft word, excel, access
  11. Understanding of the local and national political landscape.
  12. Experience with event planning.
  13. Must be self-motivated, independent with the ability to multi-task.
  14. Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining confidentiality and good working relationships.

Detailed Duties:

  1. Contact lay leadership and work with them to create a parlor meeting inside their home or business. Facilitate follow-up process and ultimately convert prospects into members.
  2. Create invitation lists for magnet and delivered mail.
  3. Create lists for monthly membership dues and manage member donations
  4. Deliver speeches and foreign policy briefings to small and large audiences.
  5. Gift solicitations, especially for current membership renewals and upgrades.
  6. Plan small and large-scale membership/fundraising events.
  7. Cultivate relationships with and develop the leadership skills of members throughout San Diego and work closely with the local council.
  8. Work with Area Director and lay leaders to cultivate new hosts for Parlor meetings.
  9. Recruit members to attend national events.
  10. Work with the Area Director to identify creative and innovative strategies to achieve development goals.
  11. Work with Area Director to ensure that development, political and recruitment goals are met.
  12. Participate in weekly regional and national staff meetings.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
