CLASSIFIED SALES MANAGER

Position is responsible for the day to day management and development of in-house staff responsible for print and electronic classified sales for a major publishing company. Estimated 2008 revenue of $10,000,000 - primarily print advertising. Position is based in NYC and reports to the senior commercial manager. Market facing products are professional journals and web sites for practitioners of medicine and the general delivery of healthcare - primarily in the U.S. market.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management responsibility for 12 person staff to include direct supervision, evaluation of performance and professional development of a classified sales team
  • Organization, assignment, monitoring of sales positions and supporting staff including compensation planning, account assignment, task assignments and overall department make up and organization of tasks and responsibilities
  • Customer development, evaluation and relationship management of clients and agencies that place classified advertising for journals.
  • Personal participation in the development of an on-line classified strategy
  • Development of professional level sales reporting and activity monitoring tools for all classified sales activity and share of market reporting and general competitive monitoring
  • Development of annual revenue budget - periodic reporting against goals and targets, development of ad pricing strategy and sales support strategy
  • Lead new product development - revenue building initiatives for classified revenues

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven ability to build revenue - progressive career history
  • Supervisory experience in classified or related sales area
  • Experience in change management
  • Ability to work independent of day to day supervision
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
