TEMPLE SHOLOM
Marketing/Communications Director

The Marketing/Communications Director will be the central staff member developing and coordinating publicity for all synagogue programs. In addition, the director will work on the general public relations for the congregation. The Marketing/Communications Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

This is a full-time position which is expected to work 40 hours per week on average.
The Director will work closely with staff members, synagogue officers, committee chairs, and volunteers on:

  • Implementation of overall synagogue publicity and public relations program
  • Keep website current with frequent updates
  • Ensure proper internal/external publicity for all synagogue events & activities
  • Ensure appropriate external publicity for synagogue events including advertising (as budgeted), community calendars, press releases, etc.
  • Assist with the creation of synagogue brochures including membership, programmatic, and educational publications
  • Develop and disseminate Membership Recruitment and Publicity materials
  • Collection of articles/information, and preparation/dissemination of the Weekly E-bulletin
  • Preparation and dissemination of the Rabbi’s Weekly Teaching, and Simcha/Bereavement Notices
  • Publicize new and prospective members events
  • Coordinate collection of articles for the bi-monthly bulletin ensuring complete coverage of all Temple programs and activities
  • Insure that high quality photos are taken for Temple programs and activities.
  • Assist volunteer editor of the Temple’s quarterly Programming Guide with the collection of data
  • Coordinate dissemination of Temple marketing information in a cost efficient manner
  • Develop marketing plan for Temple and its divisions
  • Coordinate marketing of Religious and Nursery School events and activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • At least three years experience in Marketing/Communications is preferred
  • Experience with proof reading, copy writing and graphic design
  • Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of synagogue and/or other Jewish communal organization operation, and structure
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skill are required
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and complete multiple projects; delegate responsibilities; and coordinate members of the Temple Sholom organization.

The Database Administrator is responsible to manage multiple environments containing Database Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Integration Services. Other expectations will include backup & recovery planning and implementation, performance monitoring & tuning, and scalability/capacity planning, and problem resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with business analysts and the development team to identify data needs and potential issues as well as help in the data model design, the product design and implement solutions to the source system applications
  • Identify and present opportunities to improve physical and logical structures
  • Monitor SQL Server instance and platform performance
  • Identify instance and platform bottlenecks, and recommend & implement effective means for improvement
  • Provide senior management with a dashboard and tools for monitoring bottlenecks and critical processing performance.
  • Provide database maintenance, including backup, consistency checks, index maintenance and gathering of server metrics
  • Provide advice on Disaster Recovery planning and implementation
  • Investigate, plan, and deploy necessary SQL Server database patches and fixes
  • Special Requirements:
    • Participate in a rotating schedule, accessible 24×7 to provide emergency assistance in order to quickly respond
    • Provide technical support as needed via Blackberry and bridge line conference calls.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, or related field or equivalent related work experience
  • 3-5 plus years of experience administering SQL Server 2000 and 2005 required
  • Strong, quality design, data modeling, coding and testing practices, and problem solving skills
  • Capacity to balance both short- and long-term issues effectively
  • Flexibility and ability to work with multiple priorities
  • Extensive experience with RAID.

Additional Qualifications:

  • OLAP and Reporting Services administration experience preferred
  • Domino and IIS v6.0 and above preferred
  • CISSP certification is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with peers and non-technical personnel

  1. Working knowledge in MS SQL 2000 (2K) and migration off 2K to MS SQL 2005.
  2. Strong working knowledge of MS SQL 2005.
  3. Working knowledge in converting DTS to SSIS.
  4. Working experience data modeling and working with developers to ensure code is efficient.
  5. SAN experience with solid experience in storage management: RAID settings and the impact for selecting them.
  6. Thirst for knowledge with a proven track record for mentoring subordinates.
  7. Working knowledge of CoB/DRP management
  8. OLAP experience
  9. Data base and storage monitoring, proactive management and troubleshooting experience
  10. Prior experience in Lotus Notes (We have a legacy product that was part of our TriPoint Systems purchase.)
  11. Prior experience in DB2.

ON-SITE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Assistant reports to and works directly under the supervision of the Director of Education at Temple Sholom. The Executive Assistant oversees operation of the Religious School office, and supports the Director as well as plans, accomplishes, and manages special projects. The Executive Assistant is provided guidance by the Director, but independently plans, schedules, coordinates, carries out, and completes the assigned work, subsequently checking in with the Director for effectiveness and completeness.

OFFICE OPERATION

  • Establishes and maintains a system of procedures and administrative controls for the Religious School Director’s office to include scheduling, records management, reproduction, distribution, supplies, maintenance, and inter-office coordination.
  • Coordinates with the Chief Operating Officer and the Facilities Manager the religious school master calendar of events and schedules.
  • Prepares and maintains comprehensive logs, files and records related to personnel, students, and school operations, such as master lists, databases, and mailing lists.
  • Assists Religious School needs with typing, duplication and distribution of fliers and other materials.
  • Maintains Religious School Files in orderly manner for easy access.
  • Receives all visitors and calls for the Religious School and the Director. Greets everyone in a cheerful and professional manner.
  • Employs discretion and independent judgment, directing individuals to the correct person and efficiently resolving their concerns.
  • In conjunction with the Director, reviews all outgoing correspondence for neatness, accuracy, and adherence to format and supervisor’s personal style. Edits and proofreads communications to parents, students, the community and staff, arranges for and ensures distribution.
  • Receives and disseminates critical disaster information in a calm and professional manner.
  • Assists Director with all Religious School volunteers and assignments which support school activities.
  • Calls parents as to the Director’s direction.

DIRECTOR SUPPORT

  • Maintains Director’s calendar, mail, and schedule.
  • Receives, screens, and routes mail and communications for the Director.
  • Schedules appointments, meetings, and conferences for the Director.
  • Maintains the Director’s filing system for curriculum, materials, correspondence, and special projects.
  • Assists director in composing a variety of materials, such as letters, memoranda, bulletins, requisitions, claims, reports, and statistical data form rough drafts or oral instructions.

WORK HOURS

  • Sunday: 8:00 am - 1:30 pm
  • Monday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 10:00 am - 6:30 pm
  • Wednesday: 10:00 am - 6:30 pm
  • Thursday: 10:00 am - 6:30 pm
  • Friday and Saturday - Days off *

* If the Religious School is closed on Sunday the Executive Assistant will work 5.5 hours on Friday.
